iPage, Too Many Problems and Slow Tech Support

I-Page – lots of technical problems, had to go to corporate to get help put pressure on.

Tech support is very slow response. The first year was $66 for set up “essential package”, at renewal they now want $107.40 plus $9.95 per month.

Caution With iPage

Beware when using iPage. They may give you a great first time rate of less than $5/mo

But will up the charges for the following year because that low low price is only an initial fee. They pulled this fast one on me and billed me $107 to renew a domain without warning! iPage isn’t all it is cracked up to be.

FatCow Rate Keeps on Getting Higher

Okay, so the first year was like 44 something.

Great right!? Well the second year of service doubled to 88 something Still not too bad right? Well now for the third year they are asking for $107 something! Same for the domain privacy. First year $8.99, second year $9.99, this year they want $10.99. What is with this trend? I’m not going to hang around to find out exactly how high my rates will get! Time to find a new web host. Do all web hosting sites do this? I may have to change hosts every few years to keep my rates low. Thanks!

iPage is Rubbish

I signed up to iPage after reading some good reviews but was disappointed

Wwithin 1 day. Simple php code and port access was denied by iPage and at first the 3rd line blamed me and said it was my code that was to blame. After pointing out it wasnt me and the code was 100% fine and I told them I have other domains that I host on and the code works 100% they then changed there story and said they dont allow access to those ports. The solution they gave was useless and I told them I wont be using them again especially after there 3rd line tried to blame me?!? Very poor service and support for a new customer.

Why Many Would Not Recommend iPage

At the end of my subscription they sent me an invoice of triple the price.

It took me a while to understand what is it all about… just money! When I transfered my domain to another registrar they made me an offer of $60 discount. Too late, too late. I hate that! Honesty is not there strength. There are much better services elsewhere! No thanks not recommended.

Why Switching to iPage is a Big Mistake

I changed to iPage after seeing it near the top on this site, and they were running a special.

I guess I go what I paid for! The site is SLOWER than GoDaddy (speed issues are why I left Godaddy) and now they’ve been down ALL DAY 8/17/11. HUGE MISTAKE. Although their tech support 877 number gets me to english speaking nice people, their ability to provide good hosting is their downfall.

iPage Not Recommended

Web builder tools are NO GOOD.

They indicate FREE but not worth what you get for them, you have to pay more money for a web builder tool that may work.

Web builder tools offered for free you cannot use html code and the other one crappy templates, cannot use own flash, videos only only 6 pages. Control Panel down half the time, unable to access website to update. Products doesn’t work properly. Tech support NO GOOD, tell you anything to get you off the phone. Overall, ipage pricing is great, but you get what you pay for.

iPage Hosting Negative Reviews

1. DON’T USE IPAGE – REALLY LOW EMAIL SIZE LIMITS!!!!!!

http://webhostinggeeks.com/user-reviews/index2.php?item_id=72

Only after switching to iPage and having my incoming mail not getting to me because of “mailbox full” issues, did I come to find out that iPage has RIDICULOUSLY LOW EMAIL SIZE LIMITS (250MB) that cannot be upgraded. I run a small business and I cannot operate like this. I have already deleted a lot of mail from my accounts and the “mailbox full” issue keep repeating itself. Frankly, I could get better email service with a free Yahoo account! I am going to switch. I have been extremely UNhappy.

2. They take you money and run!

http://webhostinggeeks.com/user-reviews/index2.php?item_id=72

I signed up for IPage. They offered little to no support, told me they couldn’t stay on the phone that long. The consierge never returned my phone call then only worked limited hours and times. When I cancelled, IPage refused to refund my money for the add ons and the consierge and would only refund my money for the website and domain name. They literally take your money and run offering you no quality support for helping you get your website up and running. The advertising for this company is, at best, very fraudulent, exhibiting bad business practices, under handed ethics, and they don’t give a damn about their customers as long as they are paying and not having to do anything for the money. The website building is, at best, highly complex I think, and leaves one high and dry. Jump start is a joke. Now I’m with Intuit, and I got most of my website set up on my own in one day with 24/7 help!

3. iPAge is horrible

http://webhostinggeeks.com/user-reviews/index2.php?item_id=72

If you do not want a constant battle with tech support (who don’t know what they are talking about), horrible client support and constant down of your website then go with iPage. I just left, and I was with them for less than 48 hours. Nothing worked. I got wrong information from sales, (although he sent me email to let me know it was wrong) couldn’t get my site up because the servers were consistently down and they ripped me off on the refund even though it was less than 48 hour turnover. I left justhost for iPage because someone suggested them and I wish I had not made that move. I never had issues with just host, customer service is not the greatest but it works. iPage was a nightmare I can’t wait to get up from. When you call tech support and Joseph responds and then call sales and Joseph responds and call billing and it is still Joseph you know you have a problem. No wonder they do not know what they are talking about. I’m glad I didn’t get sucked into an extended subscription…

4. Nothing is ever easy

http://webhostinggeeks.com/user-reviews/index2.php?pg=2&item_id=72&sort=review.id&order=DESC&PHPSESSID=1689319dc6a159cf59711e90c1549fee

Nothing is ever easy with this host. Either something that is on my default usually is off, mysql database errors, and install scripts can take forever. Will return to midphase next chance i get no problems at all with them ever only left because ipage was soooo cheap I now know why. Also cheap will not last after a year it goes back up to everyone elses prices. Look Else where and don’t stop at ipages.
5. High Volume Sites beware

I received an email today from ipage letting me know I had 3 days to find a new host as they were suspending my account due to the high volume of SQL database use my site uses… I have a photo sharing and rating site, it is Drupal based and is mainly centered on SQL queries.. no way around it… This is the transcript with their tech support when my site was taken offline for an hour due to its database use…. *** Travis Payne: I cannot have this limit increased? Sheila Kim: No, it is not possible to increase Travis Payne: if i have traffic that leads this query limit to be reached often, you are telling me too bad sir… your site will just have to be down… unless you find a host that has an increased capacity to serve your site visitors? Sheila Kim: You need to make necessary changes to your website so that you do not exceed the limits. Travis Payne: like serve less content? Sheila Kim: Yes. Travis Payne: Sounds like I need a more capable host, thank you for your time

6. Ipage rips my money off (Money Guarantee “No Back”)

ipage’s Money Back guarantee with some excuses Nigel Atkinson: Hi Alex. My name is Nigel Atkinson, how are you today? ALEX: Hello Nigel, I cancelled my account with Ipage a few days ago and Ipage only return me a partial of the money, $55 out of $105 which I pay. Nigel Atkinson: Could you please provide me with your account username? ALEX: *********** ALEX: I want my other 35 dollar back and I understood about the 15 dollar which i won’t get back for the domain name Nigel Atkinson: Okay. Nigel Atkinson: We only offer refund towards hosting charges. Nigel Atkinson: We have charged $70.80 towards two year hosting plan. ALEX: yeah ok ALEX: so why am I refunded 54 dollar only Nigel Atkinson: In this we have deducted $15 for domain name and refunded you $55.80. ALEX: oh alright ALEX: How about the others? ALEX: Is it possible to get back the money? Nigel Atkinson: We do not offer any refund for any additional products.

I chose ipage based on my needs and reviews about 2 years ago. This year I renewed my account for 3 years – for the last 5-6 months, each month the servers have gone down, no email, no websites, nothing working during business hours. The last time it was from 9am to 6pm. This is killing my business! I have to make a change. Cannot recommend them. Also, their domain credit system is sketchy, hard to know where you stand.

9. Ipage STINKS! I waited over a month, called daily,4nothing!

http://webhostinggeeks.com/user-reviews/index2.php?pg=5&item_id=72&sort=review.id&order=DESC&PHPSESSID=1689319dc6a159cf59711e90c1549fee

I signed up with Ipage, their salesman claimed to have JUST what I needed and it would ONLY BE $1579 – which I AGREED TO as long as they get it done fast. They charged me fast…. but then almost entirely ignored me! I hounded them but each time was told to speak to a different department that wasn’t open then etc. When I finally realized I was wasting my time and cancelled, they played the same game, despite promising me the credit would show within 48 hours, they took over a week and had no less that 5 people contact me to ‘verify’ my cancellation request and then promise me they were ‘submitting it now to billing’ only to have the next ‘manager’ contact me. Only when I disputed it with my credit card (which they threatened me not to do as I would ‘delay’ the credit and they would suspend my account, which they obviously didn’t realize I was cancelling with a request for a refund) did I get my money back. A NIGHTMARE COMPANY TO WORK WITH that will farm the work to India.

10. Switched from GoDaddy – mistake!

11. I made a huge mistake getting an ipage hosting account

http://webhostinggeeks.com/user-reviews/index2.php?pg=6&item_id=72&sort=review.id&order=DESC&PHPSESSID=1689319dc6a159cf59711e90c1549fee

I haven’t had an ipage account long and I am really sorry I ever got a hosting account with them. I tried to transfer a domain and I was told to get the authorization code from the other company and there would be no problem, so once I got the code, ipage wants to charge me for the domain even though it’s a transfer. I even told them to bill my account on the third as I had a lot of bills that went out and I could not pay them right then and they refused. They are so hard up for money that they could not wait for two weeks to bill my card in order to pay them for a domain I was actually transferring over to them that was paid up until December. I told them that for $12.99 they would rather have a dissatisfied customer then to just bill my card on the third. I was shocked to have to pay for a domain I was transferring over to them and they want to charge me for a full domain registration. There attitude was, “Well, if you don’t like it, tough!” What a rip off company!
